ABU ROBOCON

ABU-ROBOCON is an international robotics event organized by Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union.Teams from over 25 countries from Asia participate in this event. The competition is similar to Olympics where every year there is new host nation, which gives a new theme and we have to build robots based on the theme.

Themes are based on the culture and tradition of the Host Nation. Robocon provides a platform for the countries to showcase their talent to the world through robotics. The national winning team represents its country in the Internationals.

National DD Robocon Event

For the selection of the best team from India, a National Robocon Event is organised by Doordarshan, India hosted by IIT-Delhi.

More than 80 colleges, including IITs and NITs, participate in this competition. This event is live broadcasted on television by the DD Channel (Doordarshan Channel). From the last few years the competition takes place at IIT-Delhi.

Stages of Competition

❑ Stage 1

All teams are required to submit detailed technical documentation which includes the robot's designs and the justifications behind those design choices. The documentation is evaluated out of 100 points.

❑ Stage 2

Teams are evaluated based on videos showcasing robots performing the competition tasks according to the rulebook guidelines.

❑ Stage 3

Based on the Stage 1 and Stage 2 scores, top 50 teams are selected for the final one-on-one competition at the national host college.

ROBOCON 2024 STEP FARMING

ROBOTs OF 2024
ROBOTs OF 2023
Trophy of 2024

The theme for the 2024 Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU) Robocon was "Harvest Day", hosted by Vietnam which was inspired by rice cultivation on terraced fields. The competition tasks simulated the stages of rice farming, including planting, harvesting, and transporting grains. Teams were challenged to develop two robots: - Robot 1: A manual or automatic robot tasked with planting seedlings in Area 1 and harvesting in Area 2. - Robot 2: An automatic robot that operates across Areas 1, 2, and 3, handling more complex tasks like transporting harvested paddy to storage silos. The competition showcased the theme "Efficient cultivation brings a warm and prosperous life for everyone," emphasizing the importance of efficient farming techniques.
